Open up Pages<\/h2>\n

First, launch Pages, Apple’s text editor.<\/p>\n

Press the big +<\/code> button to create a new document.<\/p>\n

Select a blank document (basic section).<\/p>\n

To create a cover<\/h2>\n

  • Insert a Page Break<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Insert the image for the cover and center it (just drag & drop the image)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      Lock the image (tap on the little brush in the upper right corner > Arrange<\/code> > Lock<\/code>)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      • Insert a square (tap on the +<\/code> button in the upper right corner: select Shapes<\/code> > Basic<\/code>), expand it, center it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        • Go back to the brush icon, select No Fill in Fill<\/code>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          • Add a border (1px), select a grey colour. Lock it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            • Add a title (tap the +<\/code> button in the upper right corner) by adding a text box in Shapes<\/code>. Place it on your cover, change the text.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              • Style your text (tap on the little brush): in Paragraph style<\/code>, select Title<\/code>; center the text, change the colour.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                • Do the same to add the author (but a bit more little)<\/li>\n
                • Repeat to add the date and a publisher.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                  • Add the icon, resize it and select Opacity<\/code> (brush > Opacity<\/code>) \u279d 70 or 60%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                    💡 Should you have an image with a background you want to remove, select your photo, press the little brush. Choose Image<\/code> and Instant Alpha<\/code>.<\/p>\n

                    💡 If something hides something, this means you have to go to Brush > Arrange<\/code> > Move to back\/front<\/code>.<\/p>\n

                    To add the story<\/h2>\n
                      \n
                    • Copy and paste the short story.<\/li>\n
                    • Style the sections (Heading<\/code> for the main title, Heading 2<\/code> for "Questions", "Les personnages", "La vision", "Le genre du texte") in Brush > Paragraph style<\/code>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                      • Style the footnotes. To start with, copy the first footnote (the word’s definition).<\/li>\n
                      • Locate the little number 1 in the fourth paragraph, erase it. Place the cursor next to the word.<\/li>\n
                      • On the very bottom right corner, select the icon (lines with a + sign). Select Footnote<\/code>. Paste your footnote.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                        • Do the same for the second footnote. You can erase the text at the bottom of the page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                          To add video and sound<\/h2>\n
                            \n
                          • Tap on the + button, select Images<\/code> > Web Video<\/code>.<\/li>\n
                          • Style it (resize it and place it wherever you want).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                            • Maybe add a title (something like "\u00c9coutez le conte"). Style it.<\/li>\n
                            • To add the audio file, repeat the same actions but pick Insert from<\/code>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                              To export your document<\/h2>\n
                                \n
                              • To make an ePub, you need to export it.<\/li>\n
                              • Tap on the little circle with three dots on the upper right corner > Export<\/code> > EPUB<\/code>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                • Change the information you want.<\/li>\n
                                • Tick "Use the first page as the book cover image".<\/li>\n
                                • Make sure you select "Reflowable".<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                  • Tap on Export<\/code>, Continue<\/code>.<\/li>\n
                                  • Choose an app (Books for instance)<\/li>\n
                                  • Open your book, allow the external content to show up.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                    • Have a look at the table of content. See how it works.<\/li>\n
                                    • Have a look at what you can do with an ePub (Speak, Look up; Highlight, Note, Translate, Spell…)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                      ➡️ Publish your book (Tap on the little circle with three dots > Publish to Apple Books<\/code>).
                                      \n➡️ For a more complex layout, select when you create a book Fixed layout.<\/p>\n
